Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center provides innovative, technology enriched academic support to stimulate critical thinking & collaborative learning across all academic disciplines. 

The Program is composed of the following services:

  • Walk-in Tutoring for Reading, Writing, Math, or Science. The Tutoring Center is staffed by both faculty and peer tutors. 
  • Online Writing Consultations 
  • Individual/Group Peer Tutoring

Requesting Service

Students who are interested in receiving tutoring must come to the Learning Resource Center (located in the Learning Commons)and request the service or apply for the service online. Each semester, approximately 300-500 currently enrolled KCKCC students self-identify and request tutoring, or are identified by instructors, through the Early Alert Program, as students who could possibly benefit from tutoring.

Tutoring Services

While classes are in session, tutoring is provided free of charge to currently enrolled KCKCC students. For math, science, reading, and writing assistance, students are encouraged to utilize the walk-in tutoring center located on the first floor of the Learning Commons. Individual and Online Tutoring are also available upon request.

Math & Science Tutoring

STEM Space

Walk-in Math & Science tutoring is available to KCKCC students who are enrolled in math or science courses. Our math and science tutors are peer and faculty who are capable of assisting with most math and science classes offered on campus. Hours are scheduled each semester according to the demand and the availability of tutors. Contact Dave Jones, Math Tutoring Coordinator, with any questions at 913-288-7242, or

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Biology and Anatomy
Monday - Thursday: 10:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Monday - Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Online Tutoring

Students will need a Skype account and internet access. Students with a Kansas City Kansas Public Library card are encouraged to utilize the free, real-time tutoring provided in partnership with

Complete the Request for Tutoring form on myDotte and select Online as your preferred tutoring location. Requests are processed within 5-7 business days.

Online Writing Consultations

A tutor will read and respond to your email within 24 hours. Since we are not open weekends, papers submitted after 12:00 p.m. on Friday will not be responded to until the following Monday.

To use this service, send an email to with the following: 

1. the course you are in and your instructor’s name,
2. a description of the assignment with the due date, & 
3. your attached paper in a Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format. A tutor will read and respond to your email within 24 hours. Since we are not open weekends, papers submitted after 12:00 p.m. on Friday will not be responded to until the following Monday. At times, due to volume, the response time may be 48 hours. Please plan ahead.

No tutoring when classes are not in session.

Peer Tutoring

Individual and Group Peer Tutoring is available by request, on an as-needed basis, for most courses offered at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
