Chatterton Wins Mudders Tourney at Sunflower Hills

Former Bonner Springs golf coach Bob Chatterton proved to be the best of the mudders in the season-opening Mudders Men’s Club Tournament at Sunflower Hills.

Playing at a 5-handicap, Chatterton shot a one-over par 73 to win low net honors with a 68, one stroke ahead of Phil Poce. Mike Klein was third at 71, two shots in front of his father, Dave Klein, with Jim Lahmann fifth with a net 74. Mike McNellis and Jay Sutera tied for sixth with 75’s with Dave Hunt, Brett Ricky Bob Bowman, Tom Broderick and Jeff Sutera tying for seventh at 76.

The reigning Wyandotte County champion, Steve Groom and Tim Skorija, also shot one-over 73’s to tie for low gross honors while Jerry Reid finished third (77), Marlowe Wertjes fourth (78) and Brad Ansley fifth (81).

Mike Klein had the long drive on No. 10 and Tim Skorija made the longest putt on No. 9 while Mike McNellis was closest to the hole on No. 4 and Phil Poce on No. 13.
