Taught by Shari Augustine, all classes will be taught on Thursdays in Room 10 of the West State Plaza Center at 75th and State Avenue. The classes:

BALLROOM, Sept. 10-Oct. 1 and again Oct. 8-29. The basic steps in a variety of ballroom dances including waltz, tango, fox trot, rumba, cha cha and swing will be taught along with dance positions, lead/follow techniques and etiquette while practicing the dances. Classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. The cost is $35.

SALSA, Sept. 10-24. Salsa is a hot and spicy partner dance that is very fast moving and flirtatious. In addition to basic salsa steps, couples will learn flashy eye-catching moves. Held from 7:30-8:830 p.m., the cost is $25.

SWING, Oct. 1-15. Whether you call it swing, jitterbug, jive or the Lindy Hop, its America’s own native dance. Fun and fast, it’s the most enjoyable exercise you’ll ever try. The cost is $25 and classes are held from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

TANG0, Oct. 22-Nov. 5. Originating in Argentina, the tango has evolved into a popular ballroom dance by maintaining its characteristic head flicks, fans and cortes. Held from 7:30-8:30 p.m., the cost is $25.
