Twenty-eight Kansas City Kansas Community College students including 15 athletes have been named to “Who’s Who Among Students at American Two-Year Colleges” for the 2008-09 academic year.
Recognized as one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs in the nation, this exclusive honor is conferred by more than 1,900 colleges in all states and the District of Columbia and holds the overwhelming respect of college faculties and administrators.
Students are selected on the basis of academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. Outstanding students have been recognized in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Athletes named to Who’s Who are baseball players Jordan Auerbach of Olathe, Zach Frerichs of Smithville, Mo., Blake Stroth of Topeka, Kyle Koch of Liberty, Colo.; Jarid Renzelman of Kearney, Mo.; and Colten Rhodes of Sapulpa, Okla.; softball players Caitlin Bowlin of Lawrence, Heidi Gentry of Lenexa and Kayla Nead and Arlene Regalado of KCK; ,basketball players Ashleigh Gallio of Millicent, Australia; Taryn Lane of Bonner Springs; Alexa McGrory of Ames, Iowa; Derrick Howard of Alexandria, La.; and Gustavo Juarez of Topeka.
The honorees also include Alonzia Jones, Natalie Spears and Rachille Zuninga of KCK, Megan Hannahan and Samantha Scott of Edwardsville, Victoria Fort of Tonganoxie, Ilka Csizmazia DeSomogy, and Brad Robertson of Leavenworth, Leonardo Carneiro of Fort Leavenworth, Jacquelyn McGuire of Lansing and Jill Glass, Marissa Herring and Joseph Muroka of Shawnee.
