The African American Student Union (TAASU) at Kansas City Kansas Community College is seeking individuals, businesses and organizations who are “embracing change and making a difference” for recognition at the 9th Annual Silver Harvest Banquet to be held Saturday, Nov. 14.

The 2009 theme, “Powerful beyond Measure,” will present special opportunities to highlight contributions of the excellence in the metropolitan area. Nominations are being accepted through Oct. 30.

“We will recognize the wisdom and tenacity of individuals, businesses and organizations of all generations embracing change and making a difference and will celebrate their courage, determination and steadfastness needed to move history forward,” said Marisa Gray, TAASU Advisor. In addition, the Silver Harvest Banquet assists in providing scholarship opportunities for KCKCC students.

The honorees will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • How the work of the nominee has contributed to being “Powerful beyond Measure,” and
  • How the nominee has addressed the issues of this generation and/or future generations.

Applications are available on the KCKCC website or can be obtained by calling Silver Harvest Chairman Monica McGlory at 816-885-4962 or TAASU Advisor Marisa Gray at 913-288-7284; or by e-mail to mcgray@kckcc.edu.
