KCKCC Spring Jazz Concert Tuesday, April 7

Jazz classics performed by five bands will highlight Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Spring Jazz Concert Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Performing will be the KCKCC Little Big Band at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. jazz combos directed by Jim Mair, the Latin Concert Band directed by Jurgen Welge and the Blue Devils Big Band directed by David Chael. Tickets are $3 and available at the door.

Dizzy Gillespie’s Manteca, All the Things You Are, Is You Is or Is You Ain’t my Baby and Sweet Georgia Brown are among the selections to be performed by the Little Big Band and the jazz combos; the Latin Band will perform Welge’s arrangements of Besame Mucho and The Peanut Vendor; and the Blue Devils Big Band will close with Wiggle Walk, Bebop Charlie, Paseo Promenade, Quietude and Always and Forever.

The Little Big Band and jazz combos are made up of Will Henderson, Johnathon Ligon, Joseph Young and Lucas Box, saxophone; Lindsay Orr, trombone; Zach Brame, trumpet; Josh Lister, Taygun Ozakinci and Inwook Park, bass; Michael Young and Thomas Hermann, guitar; Clayton Seals and Duane White, piano; Travis Baker and Kevin Frazee, drums; and vocalist Caitlin Sack.

Latin Band members include Jasmine Wakefield, Tim Richards, Kathleen Boyer, Brittany Foster, Benjamin Neselroad, Jon Riley, Lindsay Orr, Joseph Finch and Zach Brame while the Blue Devils Big Band is made up of Marlin Cooper, Mike Wheeler, Nick Rowland, Mark Howard and Joseph Young, saxophone; Don Rogers, Bill Brame, Dave Fitz and Jay Sollenberger, trumpet; Matt Fillingham, John Burke, Matt Kern and Paul Roberts, trombone; Andre Reyes Jr., piano; Micah Herman, bass; Rob Whittsit, guitar; and Kevin Frazee, drums.
