Nine faculty and staff members at Kansas City Kansas Community College will receive 2009 “Awards of Excellence” at the 31st International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Tex., May 24-27.
The awards will be presented by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), which since 1978 has been dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators and staff and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning towards the ultimate goal of student success.
The KCKCC recipients are faculty members Richard Gammon, Business and Technology; Joyce McMahon, Social and Behavioral Sciences; and Rita Thompson, Nursing. Staff recipients are Julia Bichelmeyer, Allied Health; Marie Branstetter, Financial and Administrative Services; Kay Crossley, Student Services; Rosemary Lischka, Continuing Education; Dan Pratt, Student Services; and Toni Saunders, Business and Technology.
The outreach vehicle and service arm to the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas, more than 700 community colleges around the world are members of NISOD including almost every large community college district, the majority of urban and technical colleges in the U.S. and Canada and more than 200 small, rural colleges around the world.
