To be held Friday, October 2nd, the Innovation Summit is designed to inspire entrepreneurs, individuals and educators to introduce new innovations by connecting people and organizations in the discovery of new ideas. The Summit is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will begin with an Expo and an opportunity to see and hear from the semi-finalists and vote for who you think should proceed to the final round. Just after lunch, the finalists will give their final pitch before the judges and the top three winners will be announced in each category. You will also see the winners from the MECA Challenge and hear judges ask their questions and give reasoning for their selections.
$10,000 in cash was awarded last year in the Perfect Pitch competition held at the Kansas City Kansas Community College. The event has grown to such an extent that this year we must change locations and move our event to the Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center. Last year we had over 300 attendees and those pitching their business ideas included high school students as well as adults. Click here to sign up to pitch your idea or your business!
The expansion of the program this year will include the MECA Challenge (which will run concurrently). The MECA challenge is for high school and college age participants who will gather in small groups, with a consultant assigned to each group. These small groups will compete to solve real life challenges small businesses have brought to them. Those having the most innovative, feasible, potentially revenue generating idea will win. In addition to adding the MECA challenge, this year the Pitch Competition will have an online platform component. This will allow participants to promote their ideas nationally and garner support online as the public is able to see their videos and vote online. The pitch with the most online “Likes” will automatically proceed to the final round!! So enroll early and get everyone you know to vote!! This expands their visibility and allows for greater participation and promotion of our sponsors. Come out and have a great time! Click here for your ticket to the event & lunch.
