Professional Development at KCKCC

At KCKCC, we put our Strategic Plan into action.

Priority 3, Goal 1, Initiative 3 states: Expand professional development and mentorship programs for new and existing employees.

Priority 3, Goal 2, Initiative 4 states: Enhance collaboration across the College through cross-training and multi-disciplinary teams to work on various College initiatives.

Priority 3, Goal 3, Initiative 3 states: Enhance and streamline the onboarding process.

KCKCC’s Center for Teaching Excellencye supports and provides educational development opportunities rooted in evidence-based, high impact practices for face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and traditional online courses. The goals are to support faculty instruction, student learning, and achievement of student learning outcomes.

Professional Development funds are available through your department and through Human Resources.

  • All new employees attend New Employee Orientation within their first 30 days of employment.
  • All new supervisors attend New Supervisor Training within their first 90 days of employment.
  • Supervisors have the opportunity to attend refresher training for supervisors each semester.
  • All regular full-time and part-time employees have access to a robust library of online trainings and professional development modules through our Learning Management System.
  • Paid membership for subscription-based trainings and eLearnings are available to all regular full-time and part-time employees upon request and after six months of employment.

The Kansas City Kansas Community College Professional Development Committee (KCKPDC) was created to provide an opportunity for representatives across the college to have input in the development and implementation of creative professional development opportunities for KCKCC employees. The KCKPDC supports communication, teambuilding and interdepartmental cooperation through professional development activities and events.

KCKCC is a member of Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC), a consortium of Kansas City higher education institutions committed to providing professional development opportunities for the faculty and staff of its member institutions.
