To make the most out of your advising appointment, arrive prepared with your questions. Review your degree or certificate requirements, your current Degree Audit (found in WebAdvisor), and review the Class Schedule. It is a good idea to create a short list of classes you are interested in with the days and times that might work well for your schedule.

Check for any holds on your student account that may prevent you from enrolling (such as a tuition hold, miscellaneous records hold, library book hold, academic dismissal, etc.) before meeting with an advisor. You will not be eligible to enroll until you've cleared holds are cleared.

Students must bring a government-issued photo ID (new students) or your KCKCC Student ID (current students) to visit with an advisor in-person. A photo ID is required required at check-in for identity verification and to locate your student record.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. (Students more than ten minutes late may need to reschedule. If you know you will be late or need to cancel, please call or email ahead of time.)

Transfer Students

All prior college transcripts are required to determine appropriate course placement and necessary prerequisites.

If you have attempted coursework at another college, bring a copy of your prior college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable for first semester advising or for non-degree seeking, visiting students). Submit official copies of your transcripts to the Registrar’s office (required after one semester semester at KCKCC.) If you have not already completed college-level math and English, complete the ACCUPLACER (or review exemptions) prior to enrollment.

Returning Students

If it has been more than one year since you attended KCKCC,  submit an application for readmission. Once you are readmitted to the college, schedule an advising appointment or enroll online via WebAdvisor. Submit any new transcripts if you have attended other colleges since your last semester at KCKCC.

MyMajors Assessment

Whether you are a current student or just deciding where you might want to apply for college, the MyMajors Assessment is used to help confirm your program of study and/or to help students who are exploring to discover degrees at KCKCC. The assessment will take about 20 minutes of your time and will recommend your best-fit programs that match your academic achievement, aptitude, unique interests, and preferences.
