New Students

Welcome to KCKCC!

As a first-time student to KCKCC, there are a few steps to check-off before you can see an advisor and enroll in classes:

  1. Complete your application to college and be admitted. You will receive an email confirming you are admitted and ready to enroll in classes.
  2. Have your high school transcriptts sent to KCKCC. Advisors cannot enroll students in classes without a transcript from your high school or most recent college attended. Unofficial transcripts may be used to enroll in classes.
  3. Complete the placement evaluation. This helps determine the right academic path for you. Placement assessments are available every day the college is open. Walk-in  and complete the assessment.
  4. Create your college email account. Your class schedule and other important information is only sent to your college e-mail.

Now you are ready! Come in anytime or schedule your advising appointment in-person or online.

Current Students

Student success advisors are here to help students map out their academic path to help achieve  educational goals.  Here are some tips for a successful advising appointment:

  • Create a short list of classes you plan on enrolling in by going to our academic catalog or class schedule.
  • Review your degree or certificate requirements and your current degree audit, available through Self Service.
  • Check for any holds on your student account that may prevent you from enrolling (such as a tuition hold, library book hold, academic holds, etc.). You will not be eligible to enroll in classes until these holds are resolved. An advisor can assist you through that process.

Transfer Students

Students transferring to KCKCC from another college should follow the new student steps listed above.

In addition, all prior college transcripts are required to determine appropriate course placement and necessary prerequisites.

If you have attempted coursework at another college, bring a copy of your prior college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable for first semester advising or for non-degree seeking, visiting students). Submit official copies of your transcripts to the Registrar’s office (required after one semester at KCKCC.) If you have not already completed college-level math and English, you will need to complete the placement evaluation prior to enrollment.

Returning Students

Who Are Returning Students?

Returning students are those who have attended KCKCC in the past but have not attended in a year or more.

Returning students must submit an application for readmission. Once you are readmitted to the college, schedule an advising appointment or enroll online via Web Advisor. If you have attended other colleges since your last attended KCKCC, submit new college transcripts.

MyMajors Assessment

Whether you are a current student or just deciding where you might want to apply for college, the MyMajors Assessment is used to help confirm your program of study and/or to help students who are exploring to discover degrees at KCKCC. The assessment will take about 20 minutes of your time and will recommend your best-fit programs that match your academic achievement, aptitude, unique interests, and preferences.
