Welcome to the Student Success Center

The staff and faculty of the Student Success Center is available to assist students with planning and achieving personal, career, and academic goals.

Student Success Advisors operate within a systematic process that is based on a close student-advisor relationship intended to aid students in achieving educational, career, and personal goals through the utilization of the full range of institutional and community resources available to students here at Kanas City Kansas Community College and within the surrounding community.

Placement Testing

Students are required to complete the placement test before meeting with a Student Success Advisor to enroll. No appointments are needed for the placement test.  All new students must have a completed Kansas City Kansas Community College application on file in the Admissions Office before testing. Apply Online Now

Questions regarding the need for placement testing by students who have previously received college credit for composition or math should be directed to the Placement Coordinator, 913-288-7171. There is no fee for the exam, but a photo I.D. is required. Following the test session, students will receive a record of their scores and the recommended course placements.

Testing is computerized and administered on a drop-in basis. Students who require accommodations due to a documented disability should contact the Disability Services office at 913-288-7664 V/TDD.

Mini SOAR Sessions (New Student Orientation)

Mini SOAR Sessions (New Student Orientation) will teach you the different resources available to you along with information on various departments you will be working with while here at KCKCC.

Disability Services

The Disability Services Office provides two areas of support: accommodations for students with documented disabilities and learning or study strategies for all students.

The Learning Specialist provides strategies in the areas of learning styles, study skills, test taking techniques, note taking techniques, and time management skills.  She will administer a learning styles inventory for each student to help determine the best approach for learning.

The Learning Specialist and the Assistive Technology Specialist work together to provide accommodations to all students with documented disabilities on a case by case basis.  Services may include: classroom accommodations, accessible textbooks and materials, assistive technology, etc.
